Activities in punkaharju

Punkaharju is an active, year-round resort with scenery lake landscape and from Punkaharju you can find the Punkaharju ridge, Finland's national landscape. Majority of these activities are within walking distance from the cottage village.

Punkaharju nature reserve

Harjun Portti is located in immediate vicinity of the beautiful Punkaharju Nature Reserve, which is a wonderful target for evening walks / bicycle trips. The most known part of the nature reserve is the ridgearea, a 9 km ridge with a great view road and paths next to the lakes. A car road goes through the ridge, but there is also many small trails which you can follow. Right next to the ridge area is located a tree arboretum, this arboretum gives an excellent setting for Nordic Walking / hiking trip, as there is marked paths to follow. While walking on the routes, you will find a shelter called Karjalankallio (the rock of Karelia), which is an ideal spot for picnic lunch or for coffee break.

Kayaking

Tuunaansaari Punkaharju, where our resort is located, is the crossroad of lakes Puruvesi and Pihlajavesi, both part of Lake Saimaa. The legendary ridge area of Punkaharju is located on the opposite bank of our shore, so this is the place to start your canoeing or boat trip! We rent kayks, rowing boats, boats with small engine and motor boats

Fishing

Punkaharju is a popular fishing destination, with big perch waiting in lake Puruvesi. The opposite ridge area is a great destination for some easy angling, for bigger catches you might want to head to Lake Puruvesi. discgolf courses

8-hole discgolf track for starters open in Tuunaansaari, just near the cottages. Longest holes are over 100m. Also a new, 12-hole track has been opened in Punkaharju Kauvonniemi.

Other attractions

18-hole Kerigolf- golf course is located in Kerimäki, only a 15min drive from Tuunaansaari holiday village. The golf course is build to scenic forest landscapes and has high changes in elevation, which makes it interesting for players
